Kidnapping statistics in Nigeria, from 2015 to 2021.

Following the criticism of inefficiency and lack of capacity, the ministry of interior has revealing plans to improve the internal security challenges confronting the citizens in Nigeria with a viewing to reducing it.

The minister of interior Rauf Aregbesola, disclose the plans last December 2021 in Abuja during the inauguration of the committee to study the recommendation and implementation strategies on strengthening internal security framework and community policing in Nigeria.

He said, journey to the committee inauguration began with the senior Executive course (sec) 40, 2018 of the national institute for policy and strategic studies (NIPSS) on strengthening internal security framework and community policing in Nigeria.

The committee observe that the absence of a National security policy and strategy . Document as well as a monitoring and Evaluation Framework on Internal security has negative affected the operation of the internal security agencies in the country, which therefore necessitated the directive of Mr, president to approve an inter ministerial committee with all relevant stakeholders on internal security, to be put in place.

KIDNAPPING STaTISTICS IN NIGERIA. 2015 toward end 2021 , firstly, in 2015 , 658 people were kidnapped in the entire country , which is the north central have heigheast figured of 515 . Then fellow by the South South with the total number of 68 people been kidnapped. The north central got 25 people kidnapped.while south west got 27 been kidnapped , south east was 16 people kidnapped, and lastly north west have lowest number of people were kidnapped , with 16 in the year 2015.

The kidnapping continue in the country 2016 was not left. Total of 347 people were kidnapped in the country, with the Heatherst number of 134 to the South South been kidnapped in particular, north west 68 kidnapped, south west 57 got kidnapped, north central 42 were kidnapped, north east engulfed with 38 people kidnapped, lastly the South East with the lowest number been kidnapped 8 respectively.

The same as 2017. Total of 484 people were kidnapped in that year. Total of 172 were kidnapped in the north central only, while the South South 149 got kidnapped, the South West got 68 people been kidnapped, while north central have 46 people got kidnapped. In the north west 40 people were kidnapped , south east with the lowest number of 9 according to statistics above.

The menace continue in the country , 2018 was not spare , north west got 383 been kidnapped, north east have 313 kidnapped , while 161 people kidnapped in the South South along , the South West 61 people were kidnapped, 51 people were kidnapped in the north central, finally, 17 people kidnapped in the South East.

The terrible business continue in the 2019 like that, the total of 1386 kidnapped in the country. The palace with the Heagherst number was north west 597 were kidnapped, fellow by the north central 228 got kidnapped, the South South engulfed with the 271 were kidnapped, north east 180 people kidnapped, also in South West 85 people were kidnapped, the lowest number in the 2019 was the South East got 25 people kidnapped respectively.

Finally, according to the table above , 2021 was the wost year in the nation history of kidnapping,. Total number of 2944 people were kidnapped nation wide. The north west have the Heagherst number than any other side with the 1405 people were kidnapped along, north central came the second with total number of 942 were kidnapped, the third in number was north central with 211 people kidnapped, fourthly, south west have the record of 169 people kidnapped, fifthly, south South got 140 people kidnapped, six and lowest number in that year was the South East have 77 people kidnapped.
